Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the first step to set up visit(s)?

A: Give us a call, write us an email, or text us and we will set up an introductory meet & greet visit. We will come meet you and your pet(s), gather information about desired services, and work out visit(s) scheduling. The meet & greet costs $15 that will be deducted from the total of your first service scheduled after the meet & greet.

Q: Are you insured?

A: Yes! We are insured through Pet Sitter Associates (www.petsitllc.com). If anything should happen during a visit, we will contact you immediately. Please note that pre-existing conditions are not, and will not, be covered by our insurance. We require that you, the owner, agree to reimburse Walking Happy Hounds for any uninsured expenses.

Q: Are you pet first aid & CPR certified?

A: Yes! We are certified for pet first aid and CPR through a 6 hour in person Pet Tech class (www.pettech.net) and a 2 hour online Pet Pro Hero course (www.catanddogfirstaid.com/). If a situation arises that puts a pet's health in danger, we will use the knowledge we've gained to remedy the situation, and proceed to your vet, if necessary. As soon as we know your pet is safe, we will contact you immediately and let you know what is happening. The well being of your pet is very important to us!

We also recommend all pet parents consider becoming pet first aid & CPR Certified too! You never know when these skills could come in handy. Feel free to use the links above to find out more about taking the course.

Q: Do you do overnight stays?

A: Yes, overnight visits are available upon request and at our discretion. There must be a clean bed for the time of the stay. Please schedule overnight stays as soon as possible to make sure we can make accommodations within our family schedules. Also, access to your home Wi-Fi is greatly appreciated.

Important Note: If you have indoor security cameras, we ask they are off during our stay for privacy. Also, no cameras may be in the bedroom and bathroom we will be using. If found in either restricted room, we will cancel services immediately and your emergency contact will be called to take over care of your pets; no refund will be given.

Q: Do you offer doggy daycare?

A: Yes. We offer in-home doggy daycare, but your dog must be pre-approved. We only allow 2 dogs max to visit our home & yard to play with our dogs. They must be 100% dog & cat friendly. Introductions occur outside and must be without mom and dad (so they don't feel the need to guard you) and one at a time. If you want to see where they will be allowed beforehand, please let me know when you schedule your dog's first play date.

Q: Does it matter what breed my dog is?

A: No, the breed of your dog(s) does not matter. However, we will only visit dogs that are 100% people-friendly. If your dog growls, bites, or shows any aggression towards us during the introductory visit, we will have to decline service. If your dog is people-friendly, but not dog-friendly, we will gladly make visits with them, however, we will not take them out on walks for their safety as well as ours.

Q: Will you take my dog(s) to a dog park?

A: No, we will NEVER take your dog(s) to a dog park. Our main reason is because dog parks are unregulated, meaning anyone can bring any dog to a park- even ones who shouldn't be there. We never want to put your dog's well being at risk.

Q: How will you enter my home?

A: After visit(s) are scheduled, you will need to provide a garage code or automatic opener and/or a copy of your house key. If it's a newly made key please make sure that the key works in your locks. We will arrange for a key drop off/pick up at your discretion. All keys are kept in a secure location when not in use.

Q: Do you offer any dog training?

A: Yes, we can help with basic obedience/manners (sit, down, wait/stay, ect) and also trick training. Available by request, and at our discretion.

Q: Do you send pictures or videos of our pets?

A: Yes, of course! We try to get super cute pictures and videos for our clients to enjoy! New clients will receive pictures/video at first service, even if not requested. After that, we will try to get pictures/video when possible. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the most up to date pictures of all our clients.

Important Note: We will never take or share pictures of your pets with valuables, addresses, or other personal belongings in the background. If we happen to get a phone number from a name tag in a photo, we will blur it out for privacy.
